Learn More About Me

Learning about the human body has been a passion of mine for decades, which is why I've worked in the medical field since 2008 and currently work as a Nurse Practitioner. There are many aspects of Western medicine that I love; including, the use of various tools like lab work, imaging technology, medications and other various medical and surgical procedures. These tools help identify and treat various imbalances in the body; however, generally speaking Western medicine tends to be more involved with symptom management with a heavy reliance on pharmaceutical medications. My personal journey of pursuing optimal health has led me to explore a diverse array of healing modalities. Eastern practices, alternative and complementary healing modalities have helped me learn and experience health in ways I previously could not have imagined possible. Our current system is great for managing chronic conditions and addressing the imminent needs; however, the root cause is often not addressed. In my years of clinical experience, I have typically found it is not only one root cause but a multitude of factors and the interplay between various systems which are contributing to the conditions or ailments. I utilize the Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual lens to assist others with feeling better in their bodies and an individualized patient-centered approach. I focus on low-risk and high-reward treatment approaches, offer Reiki energy healing, lifestyle modifications, mindset shifts, support with habit change and a variety of other tools which are tailored to meet the individual's needs to allow for improved health and wellness.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a safe, relaxing, non-invasive, complementary healing modality. It was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. Reiki is a Japanese derived word which translates to, "universal life force energy." The Reiki practitioner is the conduit for the energy to flow to the recipient. Anyone has the ability to become a Reiki practitioner, however they must receive what's referred to as an Attunement by a Reiki Master. The Reiki energy stimulates the recipient's parasympathetic nervous system, also referred to as the "rest and digest" aspect of the nervous system which provides an environment for deep healing to occur. Reiki is intended to be used to complement traditional or therapeutic treatments, not as a substitute. It's not tied to any religious doctrine or nationality. It has been used worldwide and is increasingly used as an adjunct within hospitals and hospices.
